Maple is closing. Your family calendar isn’t.

Maple has been acquired by Wander and sunsets on December 31, 2026. Annual subscriptions have already stopped renewing; monthly plans run until that date and then stop. If your family’s calendar, lists and meal plans live in Maple, they need a new home before the end of the year. Honest version: Maple did some things FamilyDash doesn’t, and a couple of them we have no plans to build.

  • Family group chat.Maple+ had one; FamilyDash doesn’t, on purpose. iMessage and WhatsApp do family chat better than any household app could, and built-in chats in family apps tend to go stale because nobody opens the family app to send a message.
  • Open-ended AI. Maple leaned on general AI assistance across the app. FamilyDash uses AI in specific places where it saves real typing — email to calendar, a photo of a schedule to events, a recipe from a photo or TikTok, meal-plan auto-fill — rather than as a chat box.

Migrating in 15 minutes

  1. 1. Sign in with Google or magic link. No card required.
  2. 2. Add your calendar feeds (Apple/Google/Outlook ICS). Paste the URLs into Settings → Calendar Feeds; events appear immediately.(Pro feature, included in 14-day trial.)
  3. 3. Recreate your grocery list. 5 minutes; the new department-aware sort makes it more useful than a flat list.
  4. 4. Set up chores. Add each chore with a frequency, assign to one or more kids, and FamilyDash rotates them between kids automatically.
  5. 5. Invite your partner from Settings → Household. They get a magic link, sign in, and join as an adult on the same household.
  6. 6. Mount an iPad on the fridge. Optional but the whole point — the dashboard is designed for at-a-glance use on a kitchen tablet.

Is Maple shutting down?+

Yes. Maple announced it has been acquired by Wander and will sunset on December 31, 2026. Annual Maple subscriptions no longer renew, and monthly subscriptions stay active until that date. After it closes, your family's calendar, lists, recipes and meal plans will need to live somewhere else.

What is the best Maple alternative?+

Maple connected to Gmail through OAuth; FamilyDash gives your household its own forwarding address, so you forward the school newsletter or league schedule from whatever inbox it landed in and the events are extracted onto your calendar. It is part of Pro. FamilyDash can also read a photo of a printed schedule, which Maple could not.

Can I export my data out of Maple?+

Check Maple's own shutdown notice for whatever export it offers before December 31 — once it closes, anything left in it is gone. The good news is that most of what matters travels on its own: if your events came from a synced Apple, Google or Outlook calendar, they still live there, and reconnecting that feed to FamilyDash brings them straight back. Lists, recipes and meal plans are quicker to recreate than to migrate.

Does FamilyDash have family chat?+

No, intentionally. iMessage and WhatsApp do family chat better than any household app could, and built-in chats in family apps tend to go stale. FamilyDash focuses on the shared dashboard and leaves messaging to the apps your family already uses every day.
