GroceryTap is small on purpose. Its App Store listing describes a free iPhone app with no account, a list you can share with anyone by invite code, and a single button that hands your regular groceries to Instacart so you land in checkout rather than an empty cart. It calls itself a companion to Instacart: it owns the habit and the handoff, Instacart owns checkout, delivery and payment. Version 1.3.0 added shared lists. It is listed for the United States and Canada and needs iOS 15.1 or later.
FamilyDashis a family dashboard where the grocery list is one card among the calendar, the meal plan, the kids' chores and their routines. The list fills itself when you plan a meal, everyone in the household can add to it from their own phone, and Shop on Instacart opens the whole list as a shoppable Instacart page — from the tablet on the fridge, a laptop, the iOS app or the Android app, for households in the United States and Canada. The list, the meal planner and the Instacart button are all free. Pro ($4.99/mo or $34.99/yr) adds recipe scanning from photos and TikTok, meal-plan auto-fill, allowance and unlimited calendar connections.
The honest version: for one shopper who buys the same things every week, GroceryTap is the shortest path there is. For a household whose list changes with the week's dinners and gets added to by four people, the list needs to live where the family can see it, and that is what FamilyDash is.
A list the whole family builds, one press from Instacart.
Shared list, meal planner and Shop on Instacart are free, on any device. 14-day Pro trial when you want recipe scanning and allowance.
